Pining For Your Pooch Back Home?
You’re sitting on a crowded Vancouver sightseeing bus, jammed like sardines in a can, whisked through the
city, popped on and off the bus to grab a few snapshots of the sights everybody sees, that everybody can google on
the Internet in Wikipedia.
You lean sideways and press your forehead against the bus window. Vancouver. Sightseeing.
It’s all just a blur...
You close your eyes and think of simple times back home.
An Image Dances to Life…
You’re stepping quietly through your house. The morning is calm. You’ve finished your coffee. Glancing
down, you see your pooch curled up in his dog bed, nose snuggled deep against his furry chest. His ears lie flat
against his head. He’s breathing rhythmically in gentle slumber. Until…
You whisper. It’s faint. Even you can barely hear the word slip across your lips.
“Walk…”
Ears perk – straight up! Your pooch lifts his head high, and he pushes himself up onto his haunches. He
looks at you, almost incredulous that you actually said THE WORD.
You repeat it, only this time it’s a bit louder and now as a question. “Walk?”
Your pooch tilts his head in that strange angle that only dogs do when they’re quite clearly trying to
UNDERSTAND what you’re saying. As if somehow a tilted head makes his little animal mind more aware.
But he is aware. Your pooch clearly understands THE WORD, that lovely word that fills his sleepy morning
world with the anticipation of adventure.
He leaps to all four paws! Skips and dances about you, spinning like a dervish. Every fiber of his body is
in motion, screaming, “I wanna go! I wanna go now!”
You’ve got his leash off the hook and in your hand. His little black nose starts twitching, as he draws in
all the scents of the beautiful world you live in. Time to explore! And out the door the two of you go…
This is how to see the world. And now, this is how you can see Vancouver!
